Future physical therapists (PT) and physical therapist assistants (PTA) rallied across the country to set a record- breaking year for the Mercer-Marquette Challenge. This annual student-led fundraiser benefits the Foundation for Physical Therapy Research and raises more funds each year than any other Foundation activity. MORE THAN $4 MILLION RAISED FOR RESEARCH In its 30th year, the Marquette Challenge has raised more than $4 million to aid the Foundation in its mission. Students from 178 schools raised $328,456 in the 2017-2018 fundraising cycle – a record number of participating schools and the third year running that the program has raised more than $300,000. The Challenge allows for students to get involved in advancing the profession and investing in its future, while preparing to become leaders in the field. Funds raised through the Challenge go towards physical therapy research grants and scholarships and support the rigorous scientific review process that helps the Foundation identi the most promising new investigators. Since 2002, 26 research grants and scholarships have been awarded in the name of the Challenge.
